Us: two masks, on the window seat. (Everyone had a mask. Lots of people sat on the window seat. We know.) That is where we live now.
You: walked past carrying a bowl of flash boil up in both hands, very slowly, like it was a baby bird. You looked at us, said “nice freak faces”, and then you were just GONE.
We were too stunned to say anything. We have since rehearsed several replies. Our favourite is “thank u, nice soup.”
